5 Friday Favorites – Pinterest

Since I’ve now announced that I’m pregnant, I can be more obvious about my Pinterest pins.  Peep and the new baby will be sharing a room, so I’ve started a new board called Shared Girls Room.  Here are five pins that have got my mind beginning to put design/function/organization together. Designing a Shared Bedroom

I announced earlier this week that we’re expecting another child, a girl, in early December.  Since we already have Peep, we have more than enough of the stuff any little girl will need.  But the one thing she will need is a room to live in!  The new baby and Peep will be sharing a room that we currently use as a guest room or really just a place for furniture & stuff to live in when we don’t know what to do with it.  I used Floorplanner (a great online tool) to help get me started because this is one difficult room … Continue reading

CityBaby Living is Expanding…

I’m 20 weeks PREGNANT!  And it’s another GIRL!  We’re all very excited – especially Peep who has been telling us from the start that she was having a baby sister.  Now I need to come up with a nickname for this baby… There will be lots more to share as the 2nd half of my pregnancy continues – most of all – how we’re going to fit another human into our apartment! Happy 4th of July (a bit late)

We braved the crowds (and the early rain) to go gaze at the tall ships in Boston Harbor and happened to find an isolated and people free look-out.  We didn’t last long after this picture and left the crowds to have low-key fun with friends for the rest of the day. What did you do??? Recommend on Facebook Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this post Bookmark in Browser Tell a friend

12 Days of a Free-Range Kid

I’ve just returned from 12 days in NH and VT visiting family. My in-laws live at the end of a dirt road on 100 acres – the same place my husband grew up.  To say it’s a breath of fresh air is an understatement.  Peep spent her days outside – barefoot and happy.  She could come and go as she wanted and got to experience the freedom of a childhood her father and I both knew. (It was also the 70’s and all kids were a bit more “free.”) I like where I live, but I do struggle knowing that there is … Continue reading

Peep’s Travel Tent – phil & teds traveller™

I haven’t written about some of my own choices in products in awhile, so I thought I’d share one of my favorites – the phil & teds traveller.  My mom & I saw this at our local, upscale kid’s store when I was pregnant and she insisted that she purchase it for us. (Aren’t mom’s the best! Full disclosure, I know she had an ulterior motive – we’d need something to bring to her house for visits.)  What we like about it was that it had the convenience of a pack n’ play, but was smaller, lighter and frankly, more stylish. … Continue reading

Unrelated…but where I’m at today.

I don’t normally post about being a parent outside of CityBaby Living things…but I was struck by this thought and decided to write about it. I feel as if I know everything there is to know about my daughter. I know every freckle on her nose and forehead. I know what it looks like when she’s really sad and when she’s faking. I know what she likes and dislikes, how she’ll react to most things, what toys she loves and what it feels like when she climbs into my lap.  I can feel her soft cheeks in my imagination and … Continue reading

Brooklyn Kids are Lucky

As I say in my About Me section, one of my inspirations for starting CityBaby Living is my older sister, who I always just call Sister (she’s actually Aunt Sister around these parts). She lives in a 650 square foot apartment in Brooklyn with her husband and new daughter.  They are truly living the CityBaby life. Peep and I love to visit them for many, many reasons…this picture is just one of the benefits that Peep gets to enjoy. Brooklyn kids are just so lucky…   Recommend on Facebook Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this post … Continue reading

Toy Organization – Our Nook Needs Help!

Maybe I should be blaming Pinterst.  Or maybe it’s because I’m new to blogging and suddenly parts of my house are “live” for everyone to see.  But ever since I posted about Peep’s toy nook in our office, the lack of beauty and organization I showed is really bugging me!  Now every time I walk into the room I cringe as I look at the piles of overflowing toys with no good place to put them!  Peep’s toys have evolved and the organization has not. This nook is really just that and the storage can’t be taller than 30″.   I … Continue reading

Pets When You Want Them

There are many, many, many pros and cons to bringing a pet to come live with you.  Living in the city or a small apartment means another being in an already tight space.  We would love to have a dog, but since my husband and I both grew up on farms, the idea of a dog who has to go on walks and has no sense of freedom is a tough sell.  And I’m allergic to cats so that decision is easy.  But every kid needs to grow up with a pet – right? When Peep was about 2, I … Continue reading
